the invitation
My invitation to you is to set the intention to listen.
Poetry is about listening.
It’s about observation. It’s about being humbled and understanding your role within the ecosystem within which you are an integral, inevitable part of.
We are all a part of this system. What, then, is our role?
My invitation here is to begin to understand your role, however you identify, whether you are part of the diaspora, a descendant of enslaved Peoples, a settler or descendants of settlers, or descendants of the enslavers.
What is your current relationship to the land you live on?
Names carry history. They carry stories. They carry lineages.
May we listen to those stories, to the guardians of the Land we live on, to the Land itself. To the winds, to the waters, to mountains.
Why these names and not others? What is the name that the first guardians of this place call it?
What stories do they tell about this place?
This course is an invitation into inquiry, of the Lands you currently live on, of the Lands that birthed you, of the Lands of your Ancient Ancestors.
Your assignment is to humbly listen, to learn, to get gently curious. To begin to understand the responsibility you hold within your ecosystem. To step lightly, knowing you are not owed anything.
Sliding scale donations $95-$150
Though, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Just send me an email if you’d like to join,
but the pricing is not accessible for you right now.
90% of the proceeds will go toward my bonus daughter’s journey as a hula dancer & cultural practitioner.
The other 10% will go to diapers or feminine products or food for Gaza’s children & mothers,
by way of a vetted person or organization.
